Actors buy land to try and block Heathrows expansion with a third runway

Some of the UK’s leading actors and comedians have purchased parcels of land to help foil the expansion of Heathrow airport.

In conjunction with Greenpeace the stars have bought land in the middle of the site proposed for the third runway. Emma Thompson and Alistair McGowan were among the famous names to have bought a piece of land approximately the size of a football pitch.

The Government could buy the land back if BAA gets approval to build the runway but by splitting the deeds amongst so many people will make the task more difficult and time consuming.

John Sauven the executive director of Greenpeace said “This site will become the focus for climate campaigners across Britain and the wider world because this runway cannot and will not be built”

The Government will announce tomorrow whether BAA has been successful in getting approval to expand the airport further with a third runway.
