Total traffic fell through its seven airports
August figures just released saw total passenger traffic fall across its seven airports by 3.1%. This was despite Heathrow one of its airports experiencing the busiest August ever handling 6.4 million passengers.
BAA said that despite the increase at Heathrow of 0.3% the total drop of 3.1% highlighted the fact that the slowdown is still hitting the travel industry.
BAA said that one of the factors influencing the increase in traffic was that they are now the only UK airport offering flights to India with passenger numbers increasing by 19%.
Total figures for passenger traffic at Heathrow is now 44 million, a drop of 2.6%.
