Flexible Economy tickets will replace them

From 27th January 2010 BMi will be dropping their business class option on their domestic and Ireland flights. The airline had only recently opened a new lounge at Heathrow Airport. A single economy cabin will be available with changes in company travel policies being responsible for the change. The airline will launch a Flexible Economy fare which will offer passengers a guaranteed seating at the front of the plane, complimentary food and drink and access to a business lounge at the airport for both inward and outward journeys.

The managing director of bmi, Dominic Paul, said “Customers travelling on our higher fares value business lounges, a seat at the front of the aircraft and complimentary food and drink but most no longer have business class travel policies for short flight travel. We have created a new service which delivers these important benefits, but on all Economy aircraft, so they also benefit from a lower level of APD.”

Those passengers of bmi who currently in economy as Gold and Silver members of the bmi’s Diamond Club for frequent flyers will no longer qualify for free food and drink but will earn double destinations miles on all UK flights to and from London Heathrow and flights from Heathrow and Dublin and Heathrow and Amsterdam from 27 January until 31st March 2010. Passengers who have already booked on a business class flight after the 31st will be given a refund of any additional taxes and will be booked on to a Flexible Economy Fare.
