Delta Air Lines has received permission to operate more flights out of Heathrow.

The choice of flights from Heathrow airport is set to expand further, after US airline Delta Air Lines was given government permission of add more services from the London airport. Delta will be allowed to add more flights to Miami and Boston.

The European Commission and the American Department of Transportation both agreed to let Delta Air Lines operate daily services between London Heathrow international airports at Miami in Florida and Boston, Massachusetts. The new services are scheduled to commence next year on 27 March. Delta is aiming to announce the exact timetable for the new services next week.

Once the new flights come online, the partnership formed between Delta, Air France-KLM and Italy’s Alitalia will be providing four trans-Atlantic services from Boston and five from Miami. In addition to Heathrow, the alliance serves Amsterdam, Paris and Rome from the two US cities. Flights between Miami and Milan are offered through Alitalia.

In a bid to boost competition, the government ordered American Airlines and British Airways to divest some of the slots they controlled. This led Delta Air Lines to apply earlier this year for permission to serve Miami and Boston from Heathrow.
