Nearly a month after an engine failure forced an emergency landing, Qantas A380s are again carrying passengers.

Australian airline Qantas has finally started putting its Airbus A380 superjumbo airliners back into service. Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce joined 453 passengers on a flight from Sydney to Singapore on Sunday morning.

Speaking to the media at Sydney Airport, Mr Joyce said how happy he was about being able to reintroduce the plane. He said he was 100 per cent comfortable about the operation of the aircraft.

A spokesman for Rolls-Royce said that Qantas is a valued customer. He added that the engine maker was extremely happy to see the Qantas A380s returning to commercial services and is working closely with the airline to make sure operations are safe.

On 4 November, a Qantas A380 was forced to make an emergency return and landing shortly after departing from Singapore after one of its Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines exploded. The engine failure rained pieces of debris and engine parts onto an Indonesian Island below.

The jet made a safe landing at Singapore Airport. Nobody in the aircraft or on the ground was injured. Following the completion of safety checks on engines, Qantas announced last week that it would start flying the A380 again.
